But, safeguard yourself, at least. Expect nothing from everyone. Hold those in your esteem to the highest regard, but expect nothing from them. That way, everything that the object of your affection does for you or towards you is a pleasant surprise. Everyone loves surprises, and it's easy for others to step outside of the box that you've made for them if the box has no boundaries. It's easy for someone to exceed your expectations if you have none reserved for them. A nod would be enough to send you reeling. It's quite utopian, don't you think? To see the world with these eyes is to constantly be amazed at the lengths others will go for you.
